We aim to provide a fun but safe environment and in doing so we do not transport dogs off site for walks, we use only our secure areas which are all fenced with a minimum of 8 foot in height. There are no public footpaths on site meaning guests won’t meet any strange or unvaccinated dogs. In turn this provides owners with piece of the mind so that they can carry on with their day knowing their dog is in safe hands.
Puppies from as young as 12 weeks can attend day care provided that they have completed their vaccinations. This takes place in our family home adjacent offering home from home comfort and a more tranquil environment where we reinforce house training, crate training and gentle puppy tailored walks with socialisation with other puppies on a little and often basis throughout the day. According to their development, we can start to introduce them to the other day care facilities building up from a short introduction and half day progressing up to a full day when they are ready.
For regular clients and members, we are happy to accept bitches in season and manage this accordingly along with providing post operation care which can take place in our home if required. Dogs who have not been neutered can attend at any age provided that their temperament and behaviour does not cause any issues, should we feel that this is an issue we would discuss this with you.
Vaccinations must be up to date for dogs to be able to attend, alternative arrangements should be made for the 14 days immediately after the kennel cough booster is given in order for us to comply with Wiltshire Council’s licensing conditions. All dogs must be regularly treated for fleas, ticks and worms and we ask that if any topical flea treatment is given that this is not done immediately prior to arriving as not to allow other dogs to come into contact with the substance.
Food is to be provided by the owner, we aim to keep their feeding routine exactly the same as at home and can feed up to four times per day if required. By bringing their usual food avoids the risk of dietary upset or loss off appetite, we offer airtight storage for kibble along with refrigeration and freezer storage for wet and raw food. A healthy diet is encouraged at Fern Farm and a discount on Natures Menu food is provided to members. Medication and raw food can also be administered at no extra cost.
